HCM City (VNA) – Dutch Minister for Development Cooperation Bert Koenders has affirmed that his visit has attained an important goal, i.e. to discuss solutions to modernise bilateral relationship towards a healthy public-private partnership, especially in agriculture and trade.

Minister Bert Koenders was talking with the press in HCM City on March 20 before concluding his six-day visit to Vietnam on March 21.

“The Netherlands is ready to assist Viet Nam in its long-term development cooperation targets, making institutions transparent and enhancing its anti-corruption capacity,” he said.

Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade Frank Heemskerk, who has also been on a visit to Vietnam, said he believed that Vietnam will help the Netherlands enter the Southeast Asian market and the Netherlands will be a door for Vietnam to penetrate the European Union market.

Both ministers expressed their belief and strong support to the Vietnamese Government’s efforts for hunger eradication and poverty reduction and other targets and managing development cooperation programmes.

The two ministers also said that they had discussed with Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan about the participation of Dutch businesses and groups in the city’s urban infrastructure development projects, flooding resistance and enhancing the capacity of the city’s medical and health-care system
